The carts welcome their cousin Grace to the family…. we almost.
She’s a 1967 Morris LD5 van. She started life as a delivery van in Adelaide for Myer.
In various incarnations over the years she was last working on the Gold Coast serving up shaved ice.
My plan is to restore her into a classical retro ice cream truck
The restoration has been happening in East Brunswick since October with some the very sharp guys from TripleR Luxury Cars, our goal is to launch her onto the streets of Melbourne on in early April 2016.
Follow her progress on instagram.
We road tripped her – Chef Movie style – down from Queensland.
Stickered up for the trip.
The Big Prawn… couldn’t drive past without the great east coast road trip snap.
Grace at Bondi.
Sydney meet up at Messina.
On the side of the road… we ran out of petrol THREE times on the way down (we’re blaming a petrol tank more suited to a lawn mower!).
On the plains in Northern NSW.
Driving on the highway at 75kms makes for a long trip.
Made it to Melbourne. Sunning herself at St Kilda beach.
The intended body makeover turned into open heart surgery.
Mr Miyagi, team Grace & I (ok mostly them) have cut out rust, re-welded the floor, lowering it on the serving side and extended the serving window.
I’m also putting up daily updates on my personal snapchat: scottkilmartin
What colour scheme do you think Grace’s livery should be?
Tell us on insta.
Launching in Melbourne in early April.
