The great food truck hunt in LA.
Armed with twitter & Fbook accounts along with the good oil from a few locals we set off in search.
My mate Mike riding shot gun in the navigator’s seat we hit Santa Monica, Olympic Blvd & Culver City. plus a few random strays en-route.
We found & partially dined at 23. Tacos, pizza, cheese steaks, Thai, gelato &…
The food varied greatly in quality as did the service. When you next find yourself in LA it’s worth the chase & you’ll get a taste of where things might head in Melbourne now that the local councils are opening up to the idea.
Some trucks with a big following go it alone, others cluster where permits allow. Which tends to be near office complexes and areas with lots of punters but no or limited eating options. They have now also become foodie tourist meccas. The great paint jobs are straight out of Pimp my Ride.
There is a certain theatre with the trucks that adds to the eating experience.
In Venice on the first Friday of every month 50+ trucks line up festival style.
We were out of sync and could not find the grand daddy of them all the Kogi Korean BBQ truck., try as we did. Just as well probably, couldn’t fit another morsel in our mouths.
I didn’t eat until 3pm the next day.
