Aldo’s is the Mexican version of Baskin & Robins (US) or Trampoline (AUS). A locally owned chained with great locations and layouts.
In the busy beach getaway town of Playa del Carmen there are no less than 4 stores on the main 5th Avenue strip.
At 65 pesos (AUD$5.20) for two waffle scoops it’s just under the price point of Haagen Dazs & Ben & Jerry’s up the street.
The strawberries in vanilla was pretty good.

I encountered 8 shops within 2 kms. With a big Italian influence (Italian restaurants abound in the town as do Italian tourists) in the Yucatan many of the local shops are branded gelato rather than ice cream.
